Popular Downtown Detroit Days Returns

DETROIT — Downtown Detroit Days, which is inspired by the original shopping event that began in the 1950s, is returning for a second year.

Woodward Avenue’s 511 Building will be reactivated and transformed into a lively marketplace highlighting some of Detroit’s best brands, artisans and food vendors. The popular pop-up biergarten, Tashmoo, also will be featured this year, bringing a one-of-a-kind experience to Downtown Detroit Days. The event will be  from 5 – 11 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16; 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17; and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18,  at  511 Woodward Avenue, between Larned Street and West Congress Street.

Downtown Detroit Days vendors include: Beau Bien Fine Foods; Cerealfly Craft Soap; City Directory Detroit; Common Threads Clothing; The Detroit Wood Type Co.; Detroit Spice Co.; Detroit Mini-Donut; El Guapo; Germack; Good People Popcorn; Goods Detroit; JKM Soy Candles; Jones Soda Company; Joseph Wesley Tea; McClure’s; The Peacock Room; Peoples Pierogi Collective; Simplified Clothing; Simply Suzanne Natural Foods; Treat Dreams Ice Cream; Well-Wrought Leather Goods; and, 313 Energy.

A portion of proceeds from Downtown Detroit Days will benefit Summer in the City, a nonprofit that enlists college-aged leaders to bring energetic high school volunteers from throughout Metro Detroit into the city of Detroit to serve.  Downtown Detroit Days is sponsored by The Somerset Collection, Bedrock Real Estate Services and Quicken Loans and is part of their collective efforts to inspire retail in Downtown Detroit.
