Pilot Freight Services’ Detroit Station Announces 2008 Financial Results

DETROIT, February 24, 2009 – Pilot Freight Services, a worldwide provider of transportation and logistics services, today announced financial results for its Detroit station for the year ending Dec. 31, 2008. The station’s revenue was $7 million, up 109 percent from the previous year. The Detroit station delivered over 19,000 shipments and more than 10 million pounds of freight during 2008.

Nationwide, Pilot reported yearly revenue of $373 million, an increase of 9.7 percent from 2007. Pilot’s growth was driven by its international division, with a 13 percent revenue increase, and its government services division, which saw an impressive 30 percent increase over 2007 revenue.

The Detroit station’s 10,000-square-foot facility employs approximately 15 professionals. The station plays a key role in the supply chain for a diverse range of regional industries, including the automotive industry. In addition, the company also supplies 400 local businesses with customizable freight-forwarding services.
