Paul Blatt has been appointed president and CEO of Southfield’s JVS Human Services. JVS Human Services is a human services agency in metro Detroit with a mission of enhancing the lives of job seekers, people with disabilities, and seniors.

Blatt’s position will be effective on March 1 following the retirement of former CEO Leah Rosenbaum.  Blatt has been with the nonprofit agency since 2008, having held both executive vice president and COO positions.

“Paul’s passion for helping people, combined with his deep knowledge of JVS and its strengths and opportunities will position the agency for a strong future,” says Josh Eichenhorn, chair of the JVS board. “His vision and collaborative approach will enhance our ability to provide life-changing opportunities to members of our community.”

Blatt’s responsibilities with JVS have included meeting the JVS’s programmatic fiscal and strategic goals and addressing key needs in the metro Detroit community. He oversaw the success of 350 staff workers who delivered the agency’s services. He also serves as an ambassador for JVS for prospective board and committee members, funding sources, and community leaders.

Blatt implemented eCycle Opportunities, an electronic recycling business, and training for fulfillment centers. Blatt also worked with both Oakland County and the city of Detroit to secure successful contracts to operate Waterford Michigan Works! Career Center and a Detroit at Work career center located in the Durfee Innovation Society.

“For the past 11 years, I have had the honor to work with an amazing team who have made a tremendous impact on the people of our community,” says Blatt. “During this time, I have grown professionally with the guidance of our board and my mentor, current CEO Leah Rosenbaum, who is an outstanding leader. I am honored to take on the role of president and CEO of an organization which inspires hope when it is needed most.”

Blatt received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Michigan State University and a Master of Public Administration degree from Oakland University.

JVS Human Services was founded in 1941.
