BINGHAM FARMS — Paragon Properties will host a fundraiser for the Alex Lemonade Stand Foundation at its 17 apartment communities throughout Michigan in June. Residents and community neighbors are asked to join in the fight against pediatric cancer with monetary contributions and participating in the stands.

Paragon Properties will hold a contest for each of its communities, awarding prizes to the team that creates the most “creative” lemonade stand. Communities will also win prizes for the most money raised.

“We just kicked off this important fundraising effort this week and our employees are having fun building lemonade stands, raising money and reaching out to their local communities to plan great events for our company-wide Lemonade Stands in June,” says Justin Dunckel, President of Paragon Properties.

Alexandra “Alex” Scott creator of the foundation, who was diagnosed with cancer before her first birthday told her parents when she was 4 years old that she wanted to set up a front-yard lemonade stand. Her first stand raised $2,000 in the one day. While fighting against her cancer, Alex continued to set up lemonade stands every year. As news spread, people everywhere were inspired to start their own stands and donate proceeds to her cause.

When Alex passed away in 2004, her stand had raised more than $1 million towards finding a cure for cancer. Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation was started by her parents in 2005 in light of continuing the work she began.

Each of Paragon Properties’ locations will be hosting lemonade stand fundraisers from June 12-14. Donations are being accepted at the company’s leasing centers and clubhouses, as well as online at each community page until June 15. Locations can be found at paragonapartments.com/locations
