FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich., April 13, 2009 – Parade of Homes 2009, the 20th annual exhibition of new model homes located across southeastern Michigan, will open on May 1 and run through May 31, 2009. Building Industry Association of Southeastern Michigan (BIA) and Bank of America are the sponsors of this public event.

“The advantages of today’s new homes are unparalleled,” said Darshan S. Grewal of Singh Homes Building Co., LLC and President of BIA. “Breakthrough technology has brought safety and energy efficiency in homes to a new level, and for conveniences and amenities, it’s hard to beat a new home.”

Another important reason to consider purchase of a new home now is the availability of an $8,000 tax credit for certain buyers through November 30, 2009. The website at www.FederalHousingTaxCredit.com explains in detail the provisions of the new tax credit. “This new tax credit provides an unprecedented opportunity for people looking to buy their first home,” said Mr. Grewal. “Not only will they receive an $8,000 tax credit, they also will be taking advantage of record-low interest rates, a large selection of homes to choose from and competitive home prices.”

The Parade of Homes offers potential homebuyers a unique opportunity to visit the area’s finest model and inventory homes, including condominiums and single-family homes, affordable housing and estate-sized homes. Visitors to the homes will have an opportunity to see first-hand the latest trends in energy efficiency and green building, architecture, interior design, amenities and materials. The 50 model and inventory homes range in base price from $95,900 to $3,899,000.

Architects and building industry experts will judge the homes and award winners in several categories prior to the event opening. The judges will make their decisions based on the innovative use of space and design, aesthetic appeal of the home and value for the price.

A Parade of Homes magazine containing renderings, features and location maps for all homes will be distributed within select home delivery of The Detroit News and Detroit Free Press on May 7, available at Bank of America locations throughout southeastern Michigan and at all participating model homes beginning May 1.
