TROY — Acclaimed Detroit artist and entrepreneur, Dominic Pangborn recently opened his latest Pangborn Design Collection. The 1,500-square-foot store is located at the Michigan Design Center in Troy.
The Pangborn Design Collection has long been a destination for both art collectors and everyday shoppers. The store showcases many of Pangborn’s most popular artworks and his signature line of products, which include neckties, scarves and fashion accessories. The new Michigan Design Center location will carry on much of his unique design tradition and also appeal directly to interior design professionals with an expanded line of Pangborn home accessories with options for custom-designed accessories and furnishings.
“There’s always been a strong demand for my design and patterns, whether on a necktie or on a wall-covering,” said Pangborn. “The Pangborn Design Collection at the Michigan Design Center can be the one-stop resource for professional interior designers and the general public.”
In addition to Pangborn’s own artwork and signature products, the Pangborn Design Collection will feature many other well-known products for personal use, gift-giving and home décor and accessories. Among the featured lines are Alessi, Michael Aram, Rosenthal, Philippe Deshoulieres (home products); Annieglass, Ritzenhoff, Iittala (glassware); Petra Mieren, Tip to Toe (jewelry); Olbrish, Mywalit (leather goods); Stewart/Stand (wallets).
For more than 30 years Pangborn has been celebrated as Detroit’s Renaissance Man. He initially opened his own graphic design firm — with an impressive clientele that included Chrysler, Wolverine Worldwide, and Xerox — before expanding into fashion and home accessory design. In recent years, he returned to the world of fine arts and has built a global fan base with his three-dimensional paintings. Last year the Miami Marlins commissioned him to create his largest artwork, Baseball in Motion, which is currently featured in the main concourse of Marlins Park, Miami, FLA.
The Pangborn Design Collection is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Michigan Design Center is located at 1700 Stutz Drive, north of Maple in Troy, adjacent to the Troy Motor Mall.
