DETROIT — In order to meet their growing client demand and need for collaboration while providing easier access to offices for employees, one of the state’s most recognized technology firms, Open Systems Technologies, has opened an office in downtown Detroit. The 1,000+ square-foot office space, in the corner of the 17th floor of the Grand Park Centre building, sits a block and a half from Comerica Park.
OST Detroit currently houses seven employees, and is looking to hire up to seven more employees in the areas of application development, technical consultants, project managers, and sales. Clients served through the OST Detroit office include Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, Cummins, University of Michigan, Roush industries, and Cooper Tire.
With headquarters in Grand Rapids since their founding in 1997, OST started their venture across the state with an Ann Arbor office that opened in 2012, and has since quickly expanded. The long-term goal for the Detroit office is also to expand into a larger space, staying within the historic Grand Park Centre Building as they grow their client and employee footprint throughout southeast Michigan
“The energy in downtown Detroit is amazing. There is a lot of talent there, especially in the tech industry” Dan Behm, president and CEO at OST, said. “OST wants to be part of that community and the excitement in order to help in Detroit’s comeback. We see Detroit as the engine that moves the state. In addition, no matter where you go business leaders like to do business with people they know, whether it is from the same schools or softball teams. Our company and employees put a lot of effort into giving back to the community. The relationship value is extremely important,” continued Behm.
With a knack for creating spaces that promote fun, creativity and innovation amongst its employees and clients, OST has been recognized as one of the 101 Best & Brightest Companies to Work for 5 of the past 6 years (four years straight) as well as being ranked on the Inc. 5000 List of Fastest Growing Private Companies every year since 2007. In addition, Behm was named the 2011 Entrepreneur of the Year by Ernst & Young (Technology Category).
