Oakland University in Rochester has announced the appointment of California State University, Monterey Bay associate vice president for finance Stephen W. Mackey as OU’s new vice president for finance and administration, as well as treasurer to the Oakland University Board of Trustees.

Pending approval by the OU Board of Trustees, his appointment is expected to become effective in early January 2023.

“I am delighted that Steve will be joining us at Oakland,” says Ora Hirsch Pescovitz, president of OU. “He has an outstanding background and has demonstrated that he is entrepreneurial, innovative and has a strong fund of knowledge. With more than two decades of university finance and administration experience, Mackey has gained expertise in finance and budget management, human resources and faculty affairs, facilities management, policy administration and compliance, project and program management, and more.

Pescovitz added that Mackey rated highly among CFO candidates also because of developing and implementing strategies to ensure short- and long-term financial viability of CSU Monterey Bay during the COVID-19 pandemic.
