AUBURN HILLS — Palace Sports & Entertainment’s success in its innovative role as sports marketer for Oakland University has paid off for both parties.
Oakland University has extended for another year Palace Sports & Entertainment’s (PS&E) arrangement for the exclusive rights to sell sponsorship for OU’s athletic teams and venues. Sponsorship opportunities will include print, radio and television advertising as well as indoor and outdoor signage and will focus on the university’s Division One men’s and women’s sports teams and the “O’rena,” Oakland’s athletic facility. The initial multi-year deal was announced in 2007.
“Our original agreement developed from a long-time overall relationship with Oakland University and it has only improved in the three years we have marketed their athletic inventory,” said Dan Hauser, executive vice president for Palace Sports & Entertainment. “We are pleased to be able to continue in this endeavor to benefit the university. We feel there is more for us to do as we continue growing relationships with clients and selling the Golden Grizzlies.”
The new agreement extends PS&E’s first venture into selling for a university. However, PS&E has more than 23 years experience marketing sponsorships for The Palace of Auburn Hills, the Detroit Pistons, DTE Energy Music Theatre and Meadow Brook Music Festival, located on the Oakland University campus.
“We are pleased to continue our relationship with Palace Sports & Entertainment,” said Oakland University’s Director of Athletics Tracy Huth. “The partnership has been outstanding and we feel fortunate to be working with Dan and Theresa (Doan, PS&E’s coordinator of its relationship with Oakland U.). Their professionalism and ability to engage with clients has benefited Oakland Athletics. We look forward to the continued success of our relationship.”
