Oakland County Habitat for Humanity Makes Leadership Changes

Habitat for Humanity of Oakland County CEO Tim Ruggles is retiring after 12 years of service and will be replaced by Michele Hodges, current president and CEO of the Belle Isle Conservancy effective Nov. 1.

“Tim has led the Habitat Oakland group to a period of remarkable growth in our mission to
ensure strength, stability and self-reliance in Oakland County,” says Tim Mackay, board
president of Habitat Oakland. “I want to thank him for his tremendous leadership which has
enabled our mission to grow, and for more than a decade of dedicated service.”

Hodges has held a number of senior roles with the Troy Chamber of Commerce, Detroit
Regional Chamber, the city of Southfield, the city of Eastpointe, and has served as the founding president and CEO of the Belle Isle Conservancy since 2012.
She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in urban planning from Michigan State University in East Lansing. Hodges is a Michigan Political Leadership Program fellow, and has an extensive history of board and community service.

“We welcome Michele and look forward to her energy and leadership in our continuing effort of bringing people and groups together to build homes, communities, and hope,” says Mackay.

The Habitat for Humanity of Oakland County affiliate was established in 1995 and has since helped more than 1,300 individuals and families access safe and affordable housing. Habitat Oakland provides a variety of housing programs across the county, focusing primarily in Southfield and Pontiac.

These include homeownership opportunities for families making 50-80 percent of the area median income, financial coaching, critical home repairs, and neighborhood revitalization initiatives.
