TROY— Northern Lakes Seafood Restaurant is teaming up with the Met Hotel — soon to be the newly renovated Allure Hotel — and will be be the exclusive restaurant and catering partner with New California Hotels Corp. as part of a new 17-acre mixed-use development, named LA SQUARE.
The development at Crooks Road and I-75 in Troy, will feature commercial retailers, restaurants, office space, and fully furnished condo/hotel units – “LA Lofts.” A 500-seat amphitheater – “Fire and Ice” – will host concerts in the summer and a skating rink in the winter. The entire complex will lead to a 192-room full-service hotel with the largest ballroom and meeting space in Oakland County. Hotel renovations have already begun, and Phase II of the development will break ground in 2014. The newly renovated Allure Hotel will be announced in December.
Northern Lakes’ parent company, The Epicurean Group, will feature fresh seafood flown in daily from Boston, Florida, Hawaii ,and the Great Lakes. The grand opening is scheduled for early November.
The All-New Northern Lakes Seafood Restaurant honors Detroit’s prestigious culinary history with a nostalgic nod to one of Henry Ford II’s regular dining venues – Charley’s Crab. The former living room from one of the most elegant mansions of Grosse Pointe, the Macauley Mansion, is also showcased. Built in 1929, it was designed by the famous architect Albert Kahn for Alvan Macauley, head of Packard Motor Co. While retaining much of the original structure, Northern Lakes puts a dramatic and modern twist on the traditional fish house motif. Bold blue flooring reminiscent of the ocean’s surface will be complemented by refurbished wood, classic architecture and contemporary upholstery.
Two distinct bars emphasize Detroit’s rich tradition of fine dining. A long bar, reminiscent of those enjoyed by Detroit’s auto barons, carries an impressive collection of exotic liquors, whiskeys and martinis. For intimate events and tastings, the wine bar features an award-winning collection of domestic and international vintages. The venues themselves also serve as a becoming prelude to corporate events or wedding celebrations in the finely appointed banquet facilities.
