JPMorgan Chase in New York has announced September Hargrove will lead the company’s philanthropic efforts in Detroit.

Hargrove joined JPMorgan Chase’s Advancing Cities team at the end of 2017. She previously served as national network director for the CDFI Association for Enterprise Opportunity, a White House fellow with the National Economic Council during the Obama administration, and a senior adviser at the U.S. Department of Commerce. She was also a manager of workforce and economic development programs for former New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu.

After earning her bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Berkeley, Hargrove completed her master’s from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government.

Hargrove helped establish JPMorgan’s investment in Detroit as a model for investment in other cities.
