Detroit-based General Motor Co.’s Cadillac today appointed Deborah Wahl to global chief marketing officer. In her new position, Wahl will be based in Cadillac’s New York headquarters and will be responsible for leading the strategic marketing for the Cadillac brand around the world.
“Deborah’s diverse experience, as well as her proven track record of building successful global brands, makes her a natural addition to our leadership team,” says Johan de Nysschen, president of Cadillac. “Deborah’s experience and strategic vision will build on that progress and help propel Cadillac forward during our next phase of global growth.”
Wahl brings more than 20 years of experience in high-level marketing and brand work. Most recently she was on the board of directors for Mediaocean, a media software company, and Groupon.
“As a career marketer, I’ve seen companies make strong efforts to evolve and modernize,” says Wahl. “It’s never an easy charge. I’ve been watching Cadillac’s transformation from afar and continue to be impressed with the foundational work that has been done that is fueling consumer interest and intrigue. Wahl, who currently lives in Chicago, has also served as the chief marketing officer for PulteGroup, one of the country’s largest homebuilders, and as chief marketing officer at McDonald’s. Wahl also brings automotive experience from her time as vice president and chief marketing officer at Chrysler, vice president of marketing at Lexus, and a number of marketing and communications roles at Ford Motor Co. She got her Master of Business Administration and Master of Arts from the University of Pennsylvania.
