SOUTHFIELDReal Ventures Southfield Centre LLC today announced it has acquired the Southfield Centre at 18000 W. 9 Mile Rd. near Northwestern Highway in Southfield from Franklin Street Properties. Andy Farbman, spokesman for Real Ventures Southfield Centre and president of the full service commercial real estate firm, Farbman Group, made the announcement.

The Southfield Centre is a Class A office property and home to IBM’s regional office, the City of Southfield’s Downtown Development Authority as well as many medical and specialty tenants. The 15-story, 241,396 sq. ft. building has recently undergone extensive renovations and updates, which resulted in a refreshed lobby, ample parking, 24-hour, full time security, and on-site management.

“We feel this building offers exceptional value at a tremendous rental rate. We see tremendous growth potential and are preparing for a significant increase in occupancy,” said Farbman. “Southfield Centre’s prime location enables businesses to be minutes away from other major metropolitan areas as well as downtown Detroit while offering the conveniences discerning business operators have come to expect.”

The Southfield Centre was designed by Gunnar Birkerts Architects in 1976, which in 1977 won the Owens/Corning Energy Conservation award in the Commercial Category for the building’s energy efficiency. The building’s white, grey, and silver façade absorbs/reflects sunlight and heat for a comfortable atmosphere.
