ANN ARBOR – At a time when sixty percent of the mortgage companies in the U.S. have closed their doors, one of the country’s leading mortgage companies has outgrown its headquarters and is adding a second larger facility.

Dan Milstein, founder and CEO of the Gold Star Mortgage Financial Group, announced this week that the company plans to double its headquarters and staff and has already begun moving their sales staff from their present location on Packard Road into a larger facility at Avis Farms in Ann Arbor.

Gold Star is one of the fastest growing companies in the United States and is listed on the Inc. 500. The Company is a full-service mortgage business that closes more than $1.5 billion in loans per year. It now has over 500 employees in 48 offices across the USA and has been named a Top Workplace in Michigan for three years by the Detroit Free Press.

The current headquarters building on Packard Road has become the center for their operations department, where the majority of the sales positions have already moved into the new location. The 165 employees working in Ann Arbor are expected to reach 240 by the end of the year.

Milstein attributes the company’s growth to the national expansion of the firm into multiple states. Boutique stores better serve home buyers on a personal level. “We will continue to capture more market share and to expand because of our highly-motivated and satisfied employees,” says Milstein.

“We are on track to reach our goal of creating 300 new jobs by the end of 2013,” says Rick Richter, executive vice president and chief marketing officer at Gold Star, and senior executive in charge of the new facility and the overall national Growth Plan. “We’re adding employees in sales, underwriting, credit quality, compliance, licensing, and mortgage application processing.”

Eighty new positions have currently been filled, thirty-five by new college graduates participating in the two-year management program.

“One of the big attractions for new grads is our management development program for people with no mortgage experience, but who are self-motivated. Some of our new additions are on track to make well into six figures in 2012.” adds Richter.

Richter says Gold Star has a fun, high-energy, and productive collegiate atmosphere.  “We strive to stay away from the stereotypical corporate American work environment … and while we work hard, we play too.” Staff members are allowed to bring their pets to the office, CNBC and ESPN play on big flat screen TVs, and there is a gym in the new building. Richter concluded, “We believe in a strong family life and want everyone to balance work, family, and home life. We’re a top workplace for a reason.”
