New Detroit High School Offers Corporate Work Study Program

1866

DETROIT, July 27 — Detroit Cristo Rey High School is a unique catholic, co-educational, college prep high school that serves Detroit’s most needy communities. What’s truly unique about Cristo Rey is the students actually work to pay for their education! Through the Corporate Work Study Program, students work one day a week in entry level positions at companies and organizations throughout the Metropolitan Detroit Area. The students perform tasks such as filing, photocopying, faxing, answering phones, and data entry.

The benefits for the employers and students are tremendous. You are leasing student employees without the burden of payroll taxes and other expensive employment related benefits. You are empowering students to be responsible for their education & success. Best of all, you are providing students with the opportunity to have a real and value-added workplace experience that will build a solid foundation for a lifetime.

Last year, Detroit Cristo Rey students worked diligently at some of the largest companies in the area: St. Mary Mercy Hospital, Grant Thornton, Michigan First Credit Union, Kitch, R.L. Polk, The Detroit Science Center and Detroit Salt Co., to name a few. This coming school year, over 90% of our sponsors will return, despite the economic crisis that faces southeast Michigan and the rest of the country.

With a growing student body, we desperately need more corporate sponsors! We are reaching out to ask you to help our students with job opportunities within the metro area. This is guaranteed to be one of the best hiring decisions you will ever make! If you are interested, please contact Dave McIntyre (313.919.3949) or Pamela Jackson (313.909.0672) at Detroit Cristo Rey High School’s Corporate Work Study department to schedule a meeting to discuss the program.
