NOVI — Don’t let summer end without a Michigan family tradition, brought to you by Miller Lite. From Aug. 30 to Sept. 2 the Fifth Third Bank Michigan State Fair heads to Novi’s Suburban Collection Showplace — and with it comes plenty for beer fans to enjoy, too. For the second year, Miller Lite will serve as a sponsor of the festival, ensuring a wide selection of beverages to quench an adult thirst. What’s more? Michigan-made and craft beers will be highlighted in this year’s Beer Garden.

Powers Distributing will supply a wide variety of beer for the event. The beer list for the Michigan State Fair this year includes the following Michigan craft beers: Griffin Claw Screamin Pumpkin, North Peak Diabolical, Saugatuck Blonde, Cheboygan Lighthouse Amber and Vandermill Totally Roasted.

“Michigan-made products are the focus of the 2013 Fifth Third Bank Michigan State Fair and Michigan-brewed craft beer is among something we’re proud to distribute,” said Gary Thompson, chief operating officer, of Powers Distributing. “This is a natural fit and we look forward to welcoming those festival-goers who haven’t tried these beers as well as avid fans of these breweries. It’s going to be a great weekend in metro Detroit.”

And Michigan beers won’t be all that’s on tap. Thirsty patrons will find other favorites pouring all festival long as well. Also available, courtesy of Powers Distributing will be: Miller Lite, Blue Moon, Sam Adams Octoberfest and Redd’s Apple Ale. Bright Ho use Networks will air college football on screen so festival-goers won’t miss any of the sports action while family members enjoy Midway rides, livestock exhibits, circus performances, live music, outdoor vendors featuring made in Michigan products and more. To add to the festival atmosphere, local artist Jen Raine will be on site from 1-5 p.m. Aug. 31 to create a painting with help from any interested visitors, courtesy of Blue Moon.

Berkley’s own Marshall Crenshaw and the other 27 performers who will entertain in the venue throughout the weekend.
