Paul D. Hudson, an attorney for Miller Canfield, a global law firm with offices across Michigan, has won the Golden Gavel Award from the Michigan Defense Trial Counsel. The award recognizes attorneys who have not practiced law for more than 10 years, and who have made significant contributions in their areas of practice, in their communities, and for the advancement of young attorneys.
Based in Miller Canfield’s Kalamazoo office, Hudson heads the firm’s appeals section, counseling clients on appellate strategy and procedure, representing individual, corporate and higher-education clients in state and federal appellate courts across the country.
Hudson, a principal in the firm, is active in state and federal bar associations, holding leadership positions on the American Bar Association’s Appellate Practice Committee and the State Bar of Michigan’s Litigation Section. He was appointed to serve as chairman of the Sixth Circuit’s Advisory Committee on Rules. Hudson formerly served as the editor in chief and publications chairman of the State Bar of Michigan Litigation Journal.
Hudson, of Kalamazoo, earned his Bachelor of Arts in government and philosophy from Cornell University and his juris doctor from Georgetown University Law Center. He will be honored at an awards banquet in May.
