Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center Announces Two New Members To The Board Of Directors

The Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center announced Wednesday Carla Bailo and Ed Terris are the final two additions to the center’s board of directors, filling all vacancies.

Bailo is president and CEO of the Center for Automotive Research (CAR). She brings 35 years of experience in the automotive industry and serves as the 2016-2018 vice president of automotive for SAE International, a global association comprised of more than 138,000 engineers and technical experts in industries such as aerospace, automotive, and commercial vehicle. Prior to her current roles, Bailo was assistant vice president for mobility research and business development at Ohio State University. In this role, she helped to accelerate sustainable mobility and transportation innovation for the university.

“Carla will make a great addition to the board,” says Pete Rosenkrands, chairman. “She has worked with many large, notable organizations in the past. She will bring a lot of experience, passion, and insight to our group, as well as an impressive network of connections. We look forward to welcoming her to the board.”

Terris, vice president of manufacturing at Peckham Inc., brings experience leading teams in improvement initiatives and has received recognitions including the Michigan Manufacturer of the Year award from the Michigan Manufacturers Association. Additionally, he has been certified by the Department of Labor for its Master Craftsman Sewing Machine Apprenticeship program. Terris has gained experience leading global product development teams while serving in operations and engineering management positions at multi-national firms in the automotive industry. He is an adjunct faculty member at Central Michigan University.

“Ed’s passion for helping small and mid-sized manufacturers is key to all of his work,” says Rosenkrands. “That passion, combined with his skills in management and improvement, make him an invaluable addition to our Board of Directors.”

The Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center is an organization dedicated to supporting Michigan manufacturers. The center offers personalized consulting services to meet the needs of clients. It is affiliated with the National Institute of Standards and Technology and is part of the Hollings Manufacturing Extension Partnership. The center also is closely affiliated with the Michigan Economic Development Corp. with the shared goal of making Michigan businesses vibrant, driving gross domestic product growth, and creating new and lasting jobs.
