Scott Hiipakka, CEO of the Michigan Israel Business Accelerator, was promoted to Brigadier General of the Army National Guard.

Hiipakka was promoted to Assistant Adjutant General for the Michigan Army National Guard. In the role, he is responsible for overseeing the creation, operations, and mentoring of teams ranging from 30 people to more than 8,000.

“We have complete trust and confidence in Scott,” says U.S. Army Major General Paul Rogers, Adjutant General and director of the Michigan Department of Military and Veterans Affairs. “We know his values, we know his family, and we know the commitment so many of you have put into him, and we fully trust in him to now give all of that back.”

Hiipakka began military service in June 1993 as an infantry officer.

After active duty, Hiipakka entered the Michigan Army National Guard in 2001. His deployments have included Operation Uphold Democracy and Operation Noble Eagle. He was a Task Force Commander and senior advisor to the Afghan Border Police in Operation Enduring Freedom-Regional Command West, Afghanistan.
