Michigan CPA Association Names New Board Chair

TROY — The Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants has elected Douglas P. Roosa, CPA, CGMA, as the chair of its board of directors for the 2014-2015 year.

 Roosa is director of Internal Controls & SOX Compliance with General Motors Co. Prior to joining GM, he served as a general auditor with Masco Corp. and in various executive and official roles with other multinational companies headquartered in Michigan. He began his career at Coopers & Lybrand and was an audit partner in its Detroit office.

Roosa is a member of numerous organizations, including the Accounting Aid Society, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Institute of Internal Auditors and is an avid supporter of music, other fine arts and education. Involved with the MICPA for many years, he received their CPA in Business & Industry and Outstanding Task Force Awards in 2010 and 2011, respectively.

A resident of Ann Arbor, Roosa received his bachelor’s degree in accounting and German from Western Michigan University.

Meter, CPA, KPMG LLP, Birmingham, treasurer; Alan C. Young, CPA, CGMA, Alan C. Young & Associates, PC, Detroit, secretary; Randolph C. Paschke, CPA, CGMA, Wayne State University, Royal Oak, immediate past chair; and John P. Pridnia, CPA, CGMA, Rehmann, Muskegon, past chair.  James Walker, KPMG Detroit, was newly elected to join the board as an officer.
