The Michigan Black Business Alliance (MBBA) in Detroit has appointed Vincent Pierson as COO, marking a step in the organization’s ongoing mission to advance Black entrepreneurship, strengthen community wealth, and expand equitable economic opportunities across the state of Michigan.
MBBA, which serves more than 2,300 members statewide, has connected its members to over $13 million in funding through its programs
Pierson brings more than 15 years of leadership experience at the intersection of sports, social impact, and organizational development. He previously served as head of diversity and inclusion for Minor League Baseball, where he implemented the league’s first national DEI platform, and is the founder and executive director of the Black Sports Business Academy, a national initiative that connects HBCU students to careers in sports and entertainment.
“Vincent brings a proven record of transformative leadership, innovation, and community impact,” says Charity Dean, president and CEO of the MBBA. “His ability to connect purpose with performance aligns perfectly with MBBA’s vision of connecting and transforming the ecosystem, disrupting the status quo and building strong Black businesses across Michigan.”
As COO, Pierson will oversee MBBA’s statewide operations, member engagement, and the implementation of new strategies to connect entrepreneurs with meaningful resources and opportunities. His appointment comes as MBBA expands programming to support access to capital, increase business visibility, and advocate for inclusive economic policies in both the public and private sectors.
“I’m excited to join the Michigan Black Business Alliance and continue the transformational work of connecting our members to real opportunities while removing barriers to access and success for Black entrepreneurs across Michigan,” says Pierson. “Throughout my career, I’ve focused on leveraging the power of community to advance access, equity, and opportunity. I’m grateful for the chance to help build a more prosperous future and deliver tangible results for Black businesses across our state.”
