SAN DIEGO — Katherine Austin, the owner of two Karma Yoga studios in metro Detroit has acquired Shuniya Yoga in San Diego and will rebrand it as Karma Yoga – San Diego.
The 1,600-square-foot studio, which has focused on Kundalini Yoga classes, will expand its offerings to include Hatha, Vinyasa, Yin, and other yoga styles as well as concerts, workshops and trainings. It is managed and co-owned by Sat Jiwan Kaur Khalsa. The teacher roster will include many of whom were originally trained by Austin in Detroit and later relocated to San Diego.
“It is such a gift to finally own a studio in San Diego,” says Austin, a yoga teacher for more than 20 years and yoga entrepreneur for more than 10 years.
Austin has a 1,500-square-foot studio in Bloomfield Township and a 3,600-square-foot facility in West Bloomfield, where she will expand Karma’s Family Yoga Center after the studio opens in early 2015. It will also serve as a concert venue in addition to offering classes seven days a week.
She says Karma studios offer prenatal yoga as well as adult yoga, family yoga, Ayurvedic classes, yoga therapy, meditation, workshops, retreats ,and yoga teacher training.
