The Taubman Co. announced that Michele Walton has been promoted to senior vice president and general counsel of the Bloomfield Hills-based firm.
Taubman, a joint venture between Simon Property Group and the Taubman family, supports the management and leasing for 26 malls in the U.S. and Asia, including Twelve Oaks Mall in Novi and Great Lakes Crossing Outlets in Auburn Hills.
In the role, Walton is responsible for the firm’s legal affairs and functions while as serving as a member of the company’s operating committee. She will report to Robert S. Taubman, chairman and CEO.
“Michele has had an impressive career trajectory during her 10 years at Taubman,” says Taubman. “She is a well-respected leader with exceptional legal acumen, and we look forward to her continued contributions.”
Walton was previously assistant general counsel and vice president, senior counsel, and director of lease compliance at Taubman. She worked at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher and Flaum and Reed Smith before joining Taubman.
She holds a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University and a juris doctorate from DePaul University College of Law.
