DETROIT, July 25, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Reporters preparing previews of Maker Faire at the Henry Ford July 30-31 can receive a sneak peek at the innovative display and mobile app developed for the event by Compuware Corporation (Nasdaq:CPWR), the technology performance company, in cooperation with the Henry Ford’s Maker Faire team.
Compuware experts are available this week to tell media members about “Get Your Geek On,” the Compuware booth at the Faire that will showcase the people and technology that have made the company one of the world’s most innovative firms.
Compuware and the Henry Ford have developed a special QR code that will be prominently displayed throughout the Faire. The QR code will allow visitors to download MakerQuest, the official Maker Faire App, that will:
— Display the entire Faire schedule, which will allow users to build their own personalized Faire agenda.
— Provide visitors with a full map of Maker displays that behaves like Google map, allowing users to zoom and pan.
— Give users with a scavenger hunt-type of game. Users will try to locate nine special exhibits and/or booths scattered around the Faire. Each of these exhibits displays a game-themed QR code. When a visitor scans one of these QR codes, a portion of an image appears on the screen of his/her iPhone, iPad or Android device. When a visitor finds all nine codes, the image is completed and the user is automatically entered into a drawing to win an iPad.
Compuware experts will be on hand at the Faire to explain how MakerQuest was built, and to show visitors how they can use its core technology to build their own mobile app.
