McLaren Health Care in Grand Blanc appointed Michael Woolsey as regional vice president of human resources – Southeast, where he will lead human resources operations at the statewide system’s McLaren Macomb, McLaren Oakland, and McLaren Port Huron hospitals.
Woolsey assumes the role following the transfer of Laura Gibbard to the same position within McLaren’s Central region.
“Throughout his impressive career, Michael has demonstrated strong and competent leadership in what is a crucial role in the success of employees and the overall operations of a hospital,” says Carissa Burton, senior vice president of human resources for McLaren Health Care. “The health care provider industry is constantly evolving, and Michael is a forward-thinking leader who can effectively manage and encourage a satisfied staff and working environment.”
Among the largest employers in each of their respected counties, Woolsey’s regional leadership will oversee more than 4,200 employees between the three McLaren hospitals based in the region. His management will include leading recruitment and retention activities, along with programs to support employee engagement, education, development, as well as employee and labor relations and human resources strategic initiatives.
With more than 25 years’ experience overseeing local health care workforces, Woolsey joins McLaren after most recently serving as vice president of human resources operations at Corewell Health in Grand Rapids.
A Michigan native, Woolsey graduated from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo with a Bachelor of Science concentrating on industrial and organizational psychology and earned his MBA with a concentration in Human Resources Management from Walsh College in Troy.
