McLaren Health Care, the three-state, health care system headquartered in Grand Blanc, and its office of government and regulatory affairs has appointed Madeline Watts as its director.
Watts assumed the position after previous director Allisyn Mattice-Eskau took a corporate attorney position within McLaren. In her role, Watts will support McLaren Health Care’s government and public policy strategies.
“McLaren has enjoyed a successful and mutually beneficial relationship with the state government, advancing our shared goal of expanding and enhancing Michigan’s health care landscape,” says Deidra Wilson, senior vice president of government relations and public policy of McLaren. “With her knowledge of health care policy and experience and understanding of the legislative process, Madeline will be a terrific proponent for McLaren to further progress that goal.”
Watts’ government experiences began in 2016 as a legislative aide and director with the Michigan House of Representatives before moving to the Michigan Senate in 2019 as a policy advisor.
Throughout her time in state-level legislature, she advised various elected officials and their staff on health care, insurance, and other relevant policies and how they relate to the budgets of the health and human services, insurance and financial services, and labor and economic opportunity departments.
Prior to her career in government, Watts was a fellow with the University of Michigan Center for health and research transformation and completed the Michigan Political Leadership program through Michigan State University.
A graduate of Michigan State University in East Lansing, Watts holds degrees in economics and international relations, and she is currently pursuing her master’s degree in applied economics at Johns Hopkins University.
