Michelle Cacovic, regional marketing coordinator for Southfield’s Grant Thornton LLP, is the winner of the Tapper’s Diamonds & Fine Jewelry “Rock Her World” design contest.

Cacovic, of Sterling Heights, created the winning design – a three-stone engagement ring that beautifully showcases the brilliance of Tapper’s unique Rock Her World diamonds, featuring 81 facets. Cacovic has been designing jewelry as a hobby since age 13. Among hundreds of entries, Cacovic’s design caught the eye of Tapper’s executives with its unique proportions, timeless appeal and overall marketability.

“We’re delighted to showcase the creative talent of young people in our state who need a chance to shine,” says Steven Tapper, vice president and lead designer of Tapper’s. “Michelle is a talented young designer and we’re thrilled to have her work showcased at Tapper’s.”

Cacovic’s winning design, called Danika – a 1.25 ct tw. 14k white gold engagement ring – has been manufactured and will be sold (starting at $7,000) at Tapper’s in Novi, Troy, and West Bloomfield.

Cacovic received a cash award of $500 and the opportunity to accept an apprenticeship at Tapper’s Diamonds & Fine Jewelry.

“Seeing my design manufactured is truly a dream come true,” says Cacovic. “I am thrilled to have this opportunity with Tapper’s and can’t wait to pursue my passion designing jewelry as a career.”

Cacovic’s piece is now being showcased at Tapper’s throughout the holidays and beyond.

Artists and designers entered the Tapper’s Design Contest online at www.tappers.com this past spring. Designs were judged on overall design, originality, marketability, practicality/wearability and best interpretation of the theme.
