John Paul Rea has been named Macomb County’s new executive director of planning and economic development.
Rea will oversee all planning and economic development services available at the county level.
Rea, of Washington Township, had previously served in the county’s planning and economic development department for nearly 10 years. At that time, he held the position of senior planner, orchestrating municipal planning services, developing quality-of-life initiatives, and pursing community and economic development opportunities. Most recently, he was appointed as assistant county executive in April where he oversaw all strategic communications and outreach for the county.
Rea earned his Bachelor of Science in political science and his master’s in public administration from Grand Valley State University.
