Mike DeVilling, a 30-year public relations veteran, has launched WestShore Public Relations, a Detroit-based media relations and social media marketing firm.
The firm will provide consulting services to organizations in the automotive, real estate, energy, high-tech, and health and wellness industries. Initially the firm will operate from the WeWork offices on 19 Clifford St. in Detroit.
DeVilling had been a senior partner at Finn Partners’ Detroit office, following a nine-year stint running his own firm, The DeVilling Group.
“It was a great experience working for a massive global consulting firm, but my heart and passion comes from being a scrappy underdog, forming close, service-oriented relationships with clients and building something great from the ground up,” DeVilling says.
WestShore Public Relations already has signed two clients, one in the automotive industry and another in real estate development. The firm also is in talks with potential clients in the aviation and energy industries.
DeVilling also has formed partnerships with a video production firm and a media-buying firm, extending his firm’s capabilities to provide online video and advertising services. The company expects to add one or two employees during the first quarter of 2020.
In addition to his roles with Finn Partners and his previous firm, DeVilling has served on the management teams at Eisbrenner Public Relations and John Bailey and Associates.
