Local Investing Platform Comes to Michigan

YPSILANTI — Localstake, an online platform that assists startups and growing businesses raise capital from local investors, is now available in Michigan. 

The company has experienced significant interest from both businesses and investors since first launching in Indiana in early 2013. More than 150 businesses and over 1,500 investors have signed up on Localstake to connect and facilitate investments at a local level. 

The team at Localstake is excited to expand into Michigan and believes that Michigan businesses and investors will quickly take advantage of this new opportunity.  “Communities in Michigan are huge proponents of buying local and eating local,” said Kevin Hitchen, one of the founders of Localstake. “Now, communities in Michigan will also be able to invest locally.”

In conjunction with its expansion to Michigan, the company is also announcing a partnership with Michigan-based Reconsider, a company that also helps startups.

As part of its expansion into Michigan, Localstake is co-hosting a launch event with Reconsider from 5-7p.m. Dec. 4 at the SPARK East Incubator in Ypsilanti.
