TROY — Four exemplary Michigan professionals will be honored this year at the Walsh College Leadership Awards Dinner in November. The annual event pays tribute to individuals who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and community service and also recognizes outstanding Walsh alumni.
Proceeds from the awards dinner benefit the Jeffery W. Barry Scholarship Fund and the General Scholarship Fund, which make it possible for deserving students to receive a Walsh education. More than $1.6 million have been raised toward student scholarships since the first awards dinner in 2000.
Troy resident Peggy Dzierzawski, president of the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants, and Grosse Pointe resident Robert Riney, president and COO of Henry Ford Health System, will receive the prestigious Jeffery W. Barry Award for Educational Excellence & Community Service. Dzierzawski and Riney are being honored as extraordinary business leaders and civic contributors who possess unwavering commitments to educational excellence and service.
Dzierzawski began her career with the MACPA in 1974 and worked in every department of the 17,000–member association by the time she was named deputy executive director in 1992. In 2006, she was inducted into the Michigan Society of Association Executives Hall of Fame.
In his role as Henry Ford Health System’s president and chief operating officer, Riney oversees all hospital and service operations for the six-hospital health system consisting of more than 60 clinical locations, 23,000 employees and annual revenues of $4 billion.
Madhava Reddy, president and CEO of HTC Global Services, will receive the Walsh College Distinguished Alumni Award. Reddy, a Bloomfield Hills resident, graduated from Walsh in 1985 with a bachelor’s of business administration in information systems and earned his master’s of science of professional accountancy from Walsh in 1987.
Walsh alumnus and trustee emeritus Richard E. Pearson of Shelby Township will receive the Walsh College Lifetime Service Award. A 1961 Walsh graduate, Pearson is president and owner of REP Enterprises. One of Walsh College’s most ardent supporters, Pearson established the Pearson Endowed Scholarship Fund and created the college’s annual golf classic.
