The Daxton Hotel in Birmingham announced the appointment of Liz Martinez as director of beverage and service, where she will create new food and beverage programming and use her experience as a certified sommelier to create a new wine list for the restaurant Madam, housed inside the hotel.
“Liz’s extensive experience and highly awarded career within the restaurant industry and as a sommelier has brought excitement to the Madam team,” says Garrison Price, executive chef at Madam. “We’re looking forward to collaborating with her on drink pairing menus and elevating our overall dining experience bringing forth new beverage programming.”
In her new role, Martinez will be responsible for creating a unique wine experience that will invite guests and visitors to discover new flavors. She will be working with local vintners to develop a wine menu that draws inspiration from local culture and character complemented by an assortment of international vintages.
Martinez has elevated service and wine standards in a wide range of restaurants throughout the country, including Detroit’s luxury steakhouse Prime+Proper and Chicago’s Purple Pig.
