DETROIT — Greektown Casino-Hotel, with the help of Shelby Township based Lexicon Technologies, has reduced its energy consumption 88 percent by rertrofiting 100,000 square feet of lighting across all areas of the property, including gaming rooms, elevators, corridors, entrances, bars, restaurants and guest rooms.

Lexicon offiicals say its solid state lighting technology is commercially designed for 24/7 hours of continuous operation, lasting 50,000 hours compared to the 2,000 hours of typical halogen lighting. Cost-reducing features include thermal management, as well as the industry’s highest lumen output, efficiency, color rendering and single light source optical performance.

The lighting technology delivers higher color rendering which complements the architectural theme and provides more uniform lighting distribution and a large dimming range. Because lost revenue due to outages above the gaming tables was eliminated, table action increased resulting in greater revenues.
