Lawrence Technological University Names New Department Chairs

SOUTHFIELD— Lawrence Technological University has named Jason Barrett as chair of the department of humanities, social sciences, and communication; and Thomas Goulding as chair of the department of mathematics and computer science.

Barrett has taught courses in American history, law, and economics since joining the LTU faculty in 2006. 

He has served as director of assessment at LTU since 2012.

Goulding was the chair of the computer science department at Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston from 2009 to 2013. The courses he taught covered web security, assembly language programming, embedded systems, and game development.

He is the founder and CEO of Eldersafe Technologies, a medical device startup consisting of a multidisciplinary team of professors, scientists, and engineers who seek to reduce the rate of health-threatening falls among the elderly.
