Lawrence Tech Names Department Chairs

SOUTHFIELD — Jason Barrett, left, has been named chair of the Department of Humanities, Social Sciences and Communication and Thomas Goulding, right, has been named chair of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Lawrence Technological University in Southfield.

Barrett has taught courses in American history, law, and economics since joining the Lawrence Tech faculty in 2006. He has served as director of assessment at LTU since 2012.

Goulding was the chair of the Computer Science Department at Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston from 2009-13. The courses he taught covered web security, assembly language programming, embedded systems, and game development.

Goulding has taught as an adjunct professor throughout his 25-year career in industry, primarily in the telecommunications and data communications markets. He is the founder and CEO of Eldersafe Technologies Inc., a medical device startup consisting of a multidisciplinary team of professors, scientists, and engineers who seek to reduce the rate of health-threatening falls among the elderly.
