CHICAGO – Lakeshore Express Aviation has announced they will start flight service between Oakland County International Airport and Pellston Regional Airport on June 6. These flights are in addition to the recently announced route serving Oakland County International Airport and Chicago Midway.
“We’re adding this new route Up North from Oakland County to address what we think will be a strong demand from travellers,” said Greg Stallkamp, CEO, Lakeshore Express. “The convenience of our service — minimal check-in times and security hassles, small airports and personalized service – provide a clear differentiator to other airlines and driving, and the price for flights is reasonable.”
“While this is a preliminary route for Lakeshore Express, we anticipate that the demand and use by Oakland County and Pellston travellers will be very high,” Stallkamp added. “Service from Oakland County International Airport to both Midway and Pellston will provide a great alternative for travel to these two popular vacation destinations.”
Service will begin on June 6, in conjunction with the new route between Oakland County and Chicago Midway. Flights run Thursday through Sunday and tickets will be $109 one-way, available to purchase online at www.lakeshoreexpress.com.
Oakland County International Airport offers advantages over flying from the bigger metro Detroit airports. Due to the small flight volume and private terminals, check-in and security screening for Lakeshore Express flights is quick and efficient. Passengers are advised to arrive 30 minutes before their flight departs. Parking at Oakland County International Airport is free.
Pellston Regional Airport is a short drive from popular Michigan vacation destinations like Harbor Springs, Charlevoix, and Mackinac Island. Ground transportation including rental cars and shuttle service to Mackinac Island ferries are available at the airport, more information can be found on their website at www.pellstonairport.com.
Lakeshore Express, which operates a 30-seat Saab 340b, offers first-class legroom for all passengers, free snacks and cocktails, in addition to a Bags-Fly-Free policy, in accordance with weight restrictions. They will continue to operate its Chicago Midway to Pellston route, serving Northern Michigan and Chicago residents.
