Kettering University in Flint has selected Marsha Bewersdorf as its new vice president of administration and finance. Bewersdorf’s appointment is effective June 15.
Bewersdorf comes to Kettering from Union College in Schenectady, N.Y., where she was associate vice president for finance. In her role, she led the department of financial planning and analysis. She worked to improve the performance and capabilities of the accounting and finance teams through a comprehensive restructuring, ensuring administrative and operational processes could support the goal of strengthening the school community.
“I am delighted to welcome Marsha to the university and look forward to the talent and expertise she brings,” says Robert K. McMahan president of Kettering. “She has a proven track record as a tactical problem solver rooted in sound fiscal management and operational strategies.”
Bewersdorf’s son (Reed Lubbers ’16) attended Kettering, boosting her interest in the university and its educational model.
“I have long admired the proven path that Kettering University puts its students on,” says Bewersdorf. “Kettering provides the experience that everyone says they want for their student. I only hope to add value, be of service and infuse my passion for this one-of-a-kind institution.”
In her career of almost 30 years, Bewersdorf helped organizations improve operational performance by aligning finance with the overall strategy and developing best practices for finance and administrative operations.
Bewersdorf earned an MBA and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Wichita State University in Wichita, Kan. She also holds a diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace certificate from the University of South Florida Muma College of Business Office of Corporate Training and Professional Education. In addition, Bewersdorf is an active CPA in the state of Florida.
