
Kerr Russell, a law firm, has hired five employees in their Detroit location. Cody Atisha, Derek Boyd, and Stephen Reaume will join as associates and Paul Burkett will join paralegal.
Atisha will focus on taxation law, corporate law, mergers, and acquisitions at the firm. Prior to joining Kerr Russ, Attisha served as a tax associate focusing on state and local taxation. Additionally, Atisha as worked with local community development entities applying for new market tax credit allocations. He graduated from Wayne State University Law School in Detroit and was a member of The Wayne Law Review.
Boyd will serve Kerr Russell in commercial litigation practice and defense of medical malpractice actions. Russell is experienced in representing physicians in several medical malpractice and general negligence cases. Russell graduated from Wayne State University Law School and served as associate editor for The Wayne Law Review. Additionally, Russell is a litigation supervisor and board member of the Detroit Free Legal Aid Clinic.
Reaume will be responsible for general litigation capacity, corporate law, estate planning, and health care practitioners for the firm. Prior to graduating from Wayne State University of Law, Reaume served as managing editor for The Wayne Law Review and writer and oralist on the Moot Court National Team. Raeume previously served as a summer associate for Kerr Russell in 2016.
Burkett, who will be assisting Kerr Russell’s medical malpractice sector, is experienced in commercial litigation, municipal, business, and medical malpractice. In his new role, Burkett will be responsible for case management, medical research, ordering records, summarizing medical records, drafting discovery pleadings, drafting witness lists, and trial preparations. Burkett earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Detroit Mercy and his paralegal certificate from Oakland Community College in Royal Oak.
