The Baldwin Society Supporting Older Adults (BSSOA) in Birmingham has announced Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald has been appointed to its board of trustees.

“We’ve funded Dr. Peter Lichtenberg’s olderadultnestegg.com, which is making an impact in the prevention and detection of elder financial fraud and abuse,” says Rob Gillette, chairman of the BSSOA. “Having Karen on the board will help us continue our efforts to protect vulnerable older people.”

The BSSOA focuses on outreach and research and provides grants to Michigan’s low-income older adults through partnerships with community agencies and organizations. Results include providing, furnaces, ramps, emergency roof repairs, utility payments, bug infestation, and more.

“I ran on a promise to bring compassion to the office and to stand up not only for victims of crime, but the people who were wronged by the criminal justice system,” says McDonald.

Prior to being elected as Oakland County’s prosecutor, McDonald was an Oakland County Circuit Court judge for six years, where she focused on children and families.
