Girls Rock Detroit has announced Julia Perkins, partner at Varnum, a Grand Rapids-based law firm, joined its board of directors. Girls Rock Detroit is a nonprofit community organization that provides a music opportunities for girls and women.
Perkins, who is based in the Novi office, is a family law attorney working with clients in divorce, child custody, child support, and parenting time matters. She has experience handling international custody cases, international abduction cases, and valuation and division of high-net-worth marital estates. She serves as the chair of Varnum’s family law practice.
Perkins is also a music enthusiast who performs in the band The Analog Dogs. She was drawn to Girls Rock Detroit “because of its commitment and mission to empower young women with the gift of music, and because of GRD’s belief that someone’s socio-economic background should not hinder them from having access to musical instruments and education.”
Girls Rock Detroit is dedicated to fostering creative expression, positive self-esteem and
community awareness for girls, women, gender expansive, and transgender people through
music education and performance.
Varnum also has offices in Ann Arbor, Birmingham, Detroit, Grand Haven, Kalamazoo, Lansing, Novi, and Naples, Fla.
