Jolly Pumpkin Adds Partnership, Updates Menu

Jolly Pumpkin Pizzeria and Brewery in Detroit is serving up a new pizza and a new partnership with Ann Arbor’s Sparrow Meats of Kerrytown Market.

With this new union come new options for pizza fans in Detroit. Jolly Pumpkin is adding a new signature ground lamb pizza made with charred tomato sauce, ground lamb, sheep’s milk feta cheese, roasted red peppers, mozzarella, and topped with arugula tossed in a citrus mint yogurt. This marks the first major menu addition since the establishment opened in April.

General Manager Dave Horchem says Michigan-made products have been front-and-center on the menu from the very start. In addition to Sparrow Meats, Horchem says local ingredients come from Avalon International Breads, Guernsey Dairy, McClure’s Pickles, and others. “Using local ingredients is just one example of the way we’re working closely with our neighbors here in Midtown and across the state,”Horchem says.

Other menu offering are also made with fresh, local ingredients. Crisp salads feature shaved Brussels sprouts, pickled beets or faro as a main ingredient. Sandwiches like The Perfect Fried Chicken Sandwich topped with sesame cilantro slaw, turmeric aioli, spicy pickles are served up on sriracha brioche or the Zucchini Parmesan with hand-breaded zucchini, charred tomato sauce, hand-pulled mozzarella, lemon-basil goat cheese and arugula on a hoagie roll.

Each sandwich comes with a zucchini pickle and a side of truffle fries with rosemary aioli or a seasonal hummus — reflecting the most local and fresh flavors available. Locally-made wine, beer or spirits at the bar are also offered.
