JLL has announced the addition of Robert Mihelich to its Detroit retail team as senior vice president. Mihelich brings more than 30 years of experience in commercial real estate, specifically in the sale, leasing, and development of retail, and commercial properties, including mixed-use and medical sites.

Mihelich previously worked as a vice president at both Trammel Crow Co. and, more recently, CBRE. At CBRE, he assisted national and regional tenants across Michigan, with clients ranging from drug store chains, urgent care, medical users, corporate cellular stores, big-box, and mid-box tenants. He has also handled dispositions and land acquisition assignments for his clients.

“We’re excited to welcome Bob to our region’s growing team of retail experts,” says Larry Emmons, managing director. “Bob’s 30-plus years of experience, his retail industry expertise, and his relationships across Michigan will be tremendous assets as we further build out our full-service retail offering and continue expanding our brokerage footprint.”

The Detroit area has seen 43 sales of retail properties of more than 20,000 square feet and 163 leases executed over 2,000 square feet.

“The Detroit region is showing a lot of promise when it comes to retail, especially with a number of new commercial developments currently in the pipeline,” says Mihelich. “I’m thrilled to be a part of a team that continues to grow with the ever-evolving retail needs of the region.”

After graduating from Northern Michigan University with a Bachelor of Arts, Mihelich received his real estate sales license. He is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers and the Detroit Area Commercial Board of Realtors. He is also an ambassador for the Sunrise Networking Group, a local business networking group.
