JARC Names Director of Program Services

FARMINGTON HILLS — JARC, an organization serving people with disabilities, has named Melissa Stewart as director of program services.

In her new role, Stewart will be responsible for overseeing all residential programs including group homes and independent living for the non-profit organization.

Stewart, a resident of Livonia, began her career working in group homes as a direct support professional while attending college. In 2005, she began working at JARC and has held many positions over the years including most recently being the former assistant director of community supports. Stewart is a Certified Gentle Teaching Mentor and is the chair of JARC’s Gentle Teaching Committee. She also holds the role of being the architect of the Creating a Gentle JARC Home curriculum.

Stewart received her bachelor’s in psychology and her master’s in social work from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
