Irene’s Myomassology Institute Earns Top Educational Award

Irene’s Myomassology Institute, a therapeutic massage school based in Southfield, has won an Excellence in Education award from Massage Envy Spa, a massage therapy franchise based in Scottsdale, Ariz.

“It’s an honor that Massage Envy chose our school,” said Kathy Skubik, Irene’s executive director. “They’ve told me personally that they prefer to hire students from our school than from any other school in the area.  When they need to hire new therapists, we’re the first people they call.”

Irene’s is not affiliated with Massage Envy – it is an independent, nationally accredited therapeutic massage school that was founded in Southfield in 1987 by Skubik’s mother, Irene Gauthier, the institute’s namesake. This is the first award it has received from Massage Envy.

The judging criteria for the Excellence in Education Award includes a school’s program and curriculum; level of student and graduate support; involvement with the massage therapy industry, regionally and nationally; and performance outcomes, such as number of graduates, placements, and graduate satisfaction.

The award will be presented on April 30 during the company’s annual Franchise Conference in Phoenix. Skubik will accept the honor.

Irene’s Myomassology Institute is at 26061 Franklin Rd.
