Huntington Bank, based out of Columbus, has partnered with the state of Michigan to create a five-year, $5 million small-business lending commitment that will benefit around 17 counties across Southern and West Michigan— Huntington foresees around 500 jobs to stem from the initiative.

“Small business owners continue to be the backbone of economic growth in our communities” says John Irwin, Huntington West Michigan region president.

Huntington will be facilitating additional local partnerships to drive grassroots support for micro lending opportunities in Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Muskegon, Lansing and Warren.

Small business owners and community leaders can connect with Grand Rapids Opportunities for Women and Southwest Michigan and Michigan Small Business Development Center to get a microlending investment opportunity.
