WEST BLOOMFIELD —A fun and exciting, contemporary new Mexican culinary experience is coming to West Bloomfield: Huerto Restaurant & Tequila Bar.  Flaunting a festive and casual atmosphere, the moderately priced Mexican restaurant is expected to open this September at 6199 Orchard Lake Rd. in West Bloomfield.

Huerto will be open for both lunch and dinner serving a blend of creative southwestern and traditional Mexican cuisine, along with a sprinkling of American dishes. The same menu will be featured for both lunch and dinner, with lunch entrées priced lower.

Liquid refreshments for the adult crowd will include traditional and specialty margaritas, as well as more than 75 different types of tequila to sip or shoot. Non-tequila lovers will find many other libations to enjoy at Huerto’s full bar, including several varieties of beer and wine.

With a colorful interior created by renowned restaurant designer Ron Rea, Huerto’s ambience will have the perfect balance between a family-friendly environment and a lively bar scene. A large, brick fireplace will be centerpiece of the main dining room, while a second fireplace warms the outdoor covered patio. Roll-up garage doors separating the indoor and outdoor dining areas will add industrial chicness; wooden tables will echo those found in a traditional cantina; and, a vibrant color scheme with contemporary lighting will give Huerto a very modern feel.

In addition to the main dining room with planned seating for 90 patrons, and the outdoor patio accommodating 80, Huerto will feature a large bar area with plenty of standing room and high top tables that will handle about 80 guests. Plus, a banquet room will accommodate another 100 guests for private parties and overflow restaurant seating. In total, Huerto will seat approximately 350 people.

Huerto was created by MSE Hospitality LLC. Co-owner Safa Zaraga, from the award-winning and popular Sagebrush Cantina in Lake Orion, will oversee daily operations with co-owner Eduardo Mayin who has held management positions with several popular restaurants and venues, most recently Loccino’s Italian Grill & Bar in Troy. Collectively, the team has more than 40 years of experience in the restaurant industry. Huerto is their first venture together.

“Our concept and mission in creating Huerto is to serve excellent, homemade southwestern and Mexican cuisine in a fun and exciting atmosphere,” Zaraga said. “By combining good menu variety, a festive ambience, and a superior staff, Huerto will provide a fabulous dining experience with great value.”

“Efficient and outstanding service is also an integral part of our mission and success — customer satisfaction is our paramount objective,” Mayin added. “Huerto will be a place where everyone will feel comfortable and truly enjoy themselves. We want to be the restaurant of choice for patrons young and old, families, couples, and singles.”

Huerto Restaurant & Tequila Bar will be open every day. Hours of operation will be Monday through Thursday, 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m.; Friday and Saturday, 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m.; and, Sunday, 12:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. Carryout is also available.
