Hubbell, Roth & Clark Employee Recipient of Engineering Award

BLOOMFIELD HILLS — Lia Michaels of Hubbell, Roth & Clark Inc., an engineering services firm, is a recipient of the Institute of Transportation Engineers 2015 Rising Star Award for the Great Lakes District.

Michaels, a member of the firm’s traffic department, is receiving the award due to her ability to lead the next generation, implement innovative techniques, solve transportation problems, and for making an impact on the transportation profession as younger member of the institute. As one of the 10 award recipients, Michaels also being considered for the ITE Young Member of the Year Award.

Michaels, of Grosse Pointe Farms, is responsible for the design of traffic signals, conducting optimization studies, performing traffic impact studies for commercial developments, upgrading freeway and non-freeway signs, and providing traffic assistance on various projects.  

Early this year, Michaels was awarded the Young Civil Engineer of the Year Award through the American Society of Civil Engineers Southeast Michigan Branch.

She earned her bachelor’s in civil and environmental engineering from Michigan State University and her master’s in both from Wayne State University.

A celebratory luncheon to honor the award recipients will be held in Hollywood, Fla. during the ITE 2015 International Annual Meeting & Exhibit in August.
