NOVI — A major commercial building project that will include a nationally known hotel, business offices, and other mixed usage, is planned for the former Novi Expo Center site, at Novi Road and I-96, it was announced today.

The 25-arce site, which also houses a water tower, is being spearheaded by Kevin Adell along with Peter Burton of the development firm of Burton-Katzman.

The city of Novi has also taken an active role in the project along wtih Core Partners, who will share in the development, design, construction, and marketing efforts of the development.

“All of us at Burton-Katzman are extremely excited to have been asked by the Adell family to be part of this exceptional project,” Burton said. “In our opinion, the timing is perfect to bring this development on-line as the economy is strengthening, Michigan employment is rebounding, and this is the premier commercial site in the city of Novi.”

Frank Adell originally developed the location in 1952 when it became an automotive factory, prior to transforming into the Novi Expo Center, which stood forth until 2012.

“The former Novi Expo Center property is centrally located at a prime intersection fronting both I-96 and Novi Road, providing access and visibility. We look forward to the redevelopment of the Adell family property”, said Novi City Manager Clay J. Pearson

“I am honored and humbled to be working with the City of Novi and Peter Burton to develop this property and I believe that my father would be extremely proud about its new use,” Kevin Adell said.
