Hospice of Michigan Hires Director of Admissions

DETROIT — Lucy Vail has joined Hospice of Michigan as director of admissions and inpatient services in the organization’s Detroit office.

In her new role, Vail will be responsible for the overall leadership and management of the admission and inpatient services department.  She will focus on promoting a culture of excellent inpatient care, ensuring patient family and caregiver needs are met. On any given day, HOM cares for more than 1,300 patients across the Lower Peninsula of Michigan.

A registered nurse and attorney, Vail brings more than 30 years of diverse healthcare experience with employment almost exclusively in Southeast Michigan. She has held leadership positions in the industry for nearly 20 years, the most recent being director of human resources and partner relations at Sparrow Health System.

During her career, Vail has led major efforts at many of the area’s top hospitals to build and repair relationships between human resources and medical teams. She has an exceptional ability to support operations from many angles, utilizing her nursing and legal experience to provide strategies to resolve diverse challenges.

Vail holds a bachelor of science in nursing from Wayne State University and juris doctorate from the Detroit College of Law.

A native of Detroit, she now resides in Okemos with her husband, Roger.
